Any pointers to suitable CHEAP vocoders/codecs and suchlike would be appreciated. (So far the cheapest chipsets cost around $150 or so and I'd really like to do it for less than that if I can!) - Brian ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Sep 1994 19:05:18 GMT From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!dog.ee.lbl.gov!newshub.nosc.mil!avalon.chinalake.navy.mil!gawain.chinalake.navy.mil!jan@network.ucsd.edu Subject: Digital Radio sources To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu Along this line, has anyone ever pushed a Mitrek or any other readily available radio to 38.4 k baud? If you can get a copy, I wrote an article in July 1989 CQ magazine that discusses mobile packet radio and some possible mounting solutions. Did you want to actually mount it under the dash, or do you have some other place chosen? Is it a car, truck, or van? Post your results if anything interesting happens. Both are quite small and can be powered by a standard 9 volt battery. The KPC-3 (the one I have) can also accept DC power from 7.5 volts to 15 volts, so powering it off of the 13.8 in your car is possible.
